Fr. Johnson Arasseril was born on 4th December 1970 as the third child to Mrs. Mary and Mr. John Arasseril, at Puravayal, Kannur District, Northern Kerala. He has three brothers and a sister.

Fr. Johnson completed his high school studies in Panchayath High School, Ulickal, Kannur District.

He Joined the Capuchin Minor Seminary in 1988 at Seraphic Seminary, Bharananganam where he had his pre-university studies from 1988-1991.

His pre-novitiate term was spent in Portiuncula Ashram, Kattappana and he had his novitiate formation at Muvattupuzha, where he made his first religious profession in 1993. Then he was promoted to further studies in philosophy at Calvary Philosophical College in Thrissur from 1993-1996. During the same time, he secured a Bachelors' Degree in Philosophy from the University of Calicut. After a Period of Regency he did his Theological Studies in the Capuchin Vidhyabhavan, Kottayam from 1997-2000.

He was ordained Priest on 22 November 2002 by His Grace Mar George Valiamattam, Archbishop of Thalassery. After his priestly ordination, he was appointed as Assistant Parish Priest at Little Flower Church, Chandanakkampara.

After a year of service in Chandanakampara Parish, he was appointed Provincial Secretary to St. Joseph Province, Kottayam. After two years of service as Provincial Secretary he was appointed Assistant Parish Priest in St. Francis Assisi Church, Permabra, Kozhikode. After six months, he was transferred to Pavanatma Vice-Provincialate, Kannur, where he served as the Procurator of two Trusts (CAPS + DASS) and Assistant Parish Priest of St. Francis Assisi Church, Melechovva, Kannur.

After two years, he was appointed Superior of the newly-erected Friary of St. Joseph Ashram Vellarikundu, Kasargode District. There he served the province till 8 November 2010.

Father Johnson Arasseril joined the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia on 10 November 2010. He was appointed Assistant Parish Priest at our Lady of Rosary Church, Doha with particular responsibility for the Syro-Malabar community (St. Thomas Syro Malabar Church) Doha, Qatar, where he served the community till the beginning of 2015. He was then transferred to Our Lady of Arabia Parish, Ahmadi, Kuwait. He joined the Parish community of Our Lady of Arabia on 24th March 2015. He is presently serving in the Cathedral Parish since November 2019.
