The Holy Family Cathedral in Kuwait City reopened its doors to the faithful on 7th August 2020, after nearly four months of closure, in keeping with the directives of the local Health Ministry.
People are still being asked to physically distance themselves in public places in order to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
As a precautionary measure, only faithful between the ages of 15 and 65 are being allowed to enter the Cathedral premises to participate in the liturgical services. To attend Mass one must REGISTER ONLINE since the number of faithful that can attend is fixed and limited. On registering, one receives a notification which is then verified at the entrance.
At the Cathedral, various safety procedures have been put into place (SEE - GUIDELINES TO THE FAITHFUL). The entrance and exit to and from the premises have been streamlined to avoid crowding. As part of the safety routine, a temperature check is carried out. It is mandatory for everyone to wear a mask and sanitize their hands and footwear before entering the Cathedral and halls. The pew which normally accommodates ten people has been restricted to only three and the place is freshly sanitized after every Mass. Physical distance is also a priority whilst receiving Holy Communion.
For those who cannot attend the liturgical services, the LIVE STREAMING OF MASSES will continue on YouTube. The daily schedule is available on our website.
By way of appreciation, the acting parish priest, Rev. Fr. Monching has expressed his sincere gratitude to the parish council team and all the church volunteers for their wonderful and extraordinary service during this time.
