BAHRAIN.. JANUARY 17, 2023: To mark one of the most significant events in the Gulf region in 2022, namely, the visit of the Holy Father Pope Francis to the Kingdom of Bahrain from 3rd to 6th November 2022, a souvenir book was released on Tuesday, 17th January at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Arabia in the presence of the Apostolic Nuncio to Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar, His Grace Msgr. Eugene Martin Nugent, the Apostolic Administrator of the Vicariate Apostolic of Northern Arabia, His Excellency Bishop Paul Hinder, the priests representing the churches of Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar, invited guests and parishioners of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Cathedral.
The souvenir illustrates in glorious colour, the historic journey of Pope Francis during his four-day visit to the Kingdom and the memorable highlights at every venue. It also throws light on the history of Bahrain, the Sacred Heart Church and School, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Arabia as well as all those involved in the visit. The concept of this souvenir is the brainchild of the Apostolic Administrator of the Vicariate Apostolic of Northern Arabia, His Excellency Bishop Paul Hinder, who realized the significance of such a historical visit to this region, and recognized the need for the preservation of such a momentous event for generations to come. This souvenir which will be circulated all over the world, through hard copies and digital media will ensure that this Papal Visit will remain a constant reminder of this grace-filled event.
In his address at the function, H. E. Bishop Paul Hinder expressed his sincere thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Royal Family for their generosity and altruism over the years. He went on to voice his gratitude for the invitation extended to Pope Francis, expressing how impressed and touched the Holy Father was by the level of hospitality he received. The cooperation and assistance received from all government officials and staff was exemplary and worthy of the highest praise, noting how heartwarming and captivating it was, witnessing the smiles on each and every face of those he encountered. He concluded by conveying his best wishes and prayers for peace and prosperity for the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people.
