(LATE) BISHOP CAMILLO BALLIN, MCCJ
|
|
H.L. Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ, was the 1st Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia, since the territory of Northern Arabia was established only recently on May 31, 2011. He was consecrated Bishop and installed as the 4th Vicar Apostolic of Kuwait on September 2, 2005, at the Holy Family Cathedral, Kuwait City. Bishop Camillo belonged to the Copngregation of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus. The Comboni Missionaries seek to follow in the footsteps of their founder, St. Daniel Comboni, by ministering to the world’s “poorest and most abandoned people.” They do this by proclaiming the Gospel with all of its values, by themselves working and empowering others to work for justice and love of all mankind and by working with local churches in making known the universal mission of Christ.

The Order of Capuchin Friars Minor (OFM Cap) is a religious order which seeks to live the Gospel in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. The Capuchin movement began in Italy in the 16th century, and today there are nearly 12,000 friars worldwide. The Capuchins follow the Rule of St Francis according to the Capuchin Constitutions. They are a reform of the Franciscan movement, whose way of life was approved in 1528. The essence of the reform was to recapture the simplicity of the charism of Francis, with a focus on contemplative prayer, penance and smaller communities of 3-12 friars.

The ministry of a Diocesan (from Greek “to keep house”) Priest is one of being available and involved in the Parish, thus helping the local Bishop. Diocesan priests do not make vows like the Religious. Upon ordination, they promise obedience to their bishop, and celibacy for the sake of the kingdom of God.

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS
O Lord, may You find shelter and rest gently within the heart of Your priest...
Make him, O Lord, a priest according to Your heart: meek, humble, zealous,
so that all he does will be for Your honor and glory.
Mold him into a man of prayer and labor, insensible to earthly things,
and sensible only to Your love and to the graces of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
O God, You sent Your Son, Jesus, to bring eternal life to those who believe.
I join Him in praying for laborers for Your harvest.
May Your Holy Spirit inspire men and women to continue His mission through
Your priesthood, diaconate, religious life and lay ministry.
May this same Spirit make known Your will for my life. Amen.
