DO YOU KNOW ...
The Vicariate of Kuwait is now the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia which includes Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The decree from the Holy See came into effect on May 31, 2011.
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua) and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word."
Parents anticipating baptism of a child are required to make an appointment with the parish priest prior to fixing the date of the baptism of their child.
Please note that the PRE-BAPTISM SEMINAR is compulsory for the parents and godparents. The PRE-BAPTISM SEMINAR is conducted in every parish in Kuwait. Please check your parish notice board for details, dates, etc or check with your Parish Priest.
St. Daniel Comboni Parish, Abbasiya Please contact the parish office.
The Syro-Malabar Community may kindly contact Rev. Fr. Johnson Arasseril OFM Cap. for baptisms and his contact number is 60046893.
Basic requirements for parents:
Parents must set up an appointment to meet with the priest in order to fix the date of the Baptism and fill in the necessary questionnaire.
Parents who are Catholics but are not married in a Catholic Church (Civil Marriage) are required to contact the priest about validation of their marriage.
Both parents are expected to be aware of the ritual of the Baptism Sacrament and the godparents too must be made aware of their responsibilities.
It is customary in the Catholic Church to have one godmother and one godfather. Godparents must be Catholic, above 16 years of age, and have received the three sacraments of initiation (that is Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist). Godparents must be actively practicing their faith.
Baptism may be delayed or postponed for non-compliance with any of above and for non-practice of the Catholic faith.
Baptisms will take place in the Church only.
You are expected to follow proper decorum and sanctity in the Church during the Baptism ceremony.
