Rev. Fr. Jijo Thomas was born on 6th April 1978 to parents Elsy and Thomas. He completed his schooling at his native village, Kutticadu, Chalakudy District, Kerala. It was during his vacations that Fr. Jijo got the call to the priesthood and decided to become a Capuchin.
As an answer to the call, Br. Jijo joined the Seminary at Sultan Battery, Kerala on 28th May 1993. During this time, he completed the Higher Secondary Course (1994-1996). Then did his pre-novitiate and novitiate (1996-1998).
On 15th May 1998, he made his first religious profession at the Muvattupuzha Novitiate House. Later in June, he enrolled in a Philosophy Course (1998- 2001) at Trichur. He was awarded the BA Degree from the Calicut University.
During the Regency period (2001-2002), Fr. Jijo spent a few months in the States of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala, India.
From 2002- 2005, his theology course was successfully completed and he was awareded a B.Th. from St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary, Bangalore.
After his tenure of vigorous religious preparations, studies and training, finally on 28th January 2006, Fr. Jijo Thomas was ordained priest at his home parish St. Sebastian Forane Church, Kutticadu, Chalakudy. The call to become a priest got fulfilled as per Christ’s great plan.
As a priest, Fr. Jijo’s first assignment was as Assistant Parish Priest at St. Mary’s Church, Kudavanchur, Diocese of Ernakulam from 2nd February 2006.
From 2007- 2008, he was a member of the Philosophy College, Trichur.
From 2008-2011, Fr. Jijo Thomas was appointed as the Parish Priest at St. Alphonsa Church, Mankurd, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Diocese of Kalyan. He continues with the Diocese as Parish Priest at San Jos Church, Wagle estate, Thane from February 2011 to May 2014.
After six years of stay in Mumbai, Fr. Jijo returbed to Trichur as Director of Social Center at Trichur from 2014 to 2020.
Later, Fr. Jijo was transferred as a member of the Provincialate community, Alwaye (June 202 – May 2023). Here, Fr. Jijo preached at the retreats held at Pax Center for the religious nuns, brothers and priests.
In June 2023, Fr. Jijo was transferred and appointed as Assistant Parish Priest, Our Lady Of Arabia, Ahmadi, Kuwait. He celebrates the Holy Mass in both languages, English and Malayalam.
