Fr. Roswin Pires was born on 16th November 1979 in Navelim, Goa. He is the son of Remedios and Lydia Pires.
Fr. Roswin felt called to a consecrated life, and answered this call when he joined the Capuchins in the year 1998. After completing his priestly studies, he was ordained a priest on 26th January 2012, in his native parish, Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim.
His priestly formation began at Padre Pio Seminary at Navelim in Goa, from where he proceeded to the State of Karnataka and continued his formation at Mangalore, Raichur and Bangalore.
On 16th May 2003, he made his religious commitment to the Lord through his First Profession and seven years later, on 2nd May 2010, he made his final commitment to the Lord through his Solemn Profession.
While in Bangalore, during his philosophical studies from 2004 - 2007, he also obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the Karnataka University, Dharwad, Karnataka. Subsequently, he completed his Bachelor in Theology while studying in Bangalore itself from 2008 - 2011.
Fr. Roswin possesses a pleasant demeanour, and is very hardworking. More so, he is always willing to try and learn something new.
With this attitude he has progressed from his first priestly appointment at Padre Pio seminary, where Fr. Roswin catered to the spiritual needs of the seminarians as well as the devotees of St. Pio who frequented the friary.
After a year, he was transferred to the Provincial House at Monte de Guirim, and served primarily as the administrator there.
In 2014, Fr. Roswin then proceeded to the Capuchin Farm house at Valpoi, where he got busy in social work as well as in the farm, apart from being the local treasurer.
He joined the Vicariate of Northern Arabia on 1 November 2017 and was assigned as Assitant Parish Priest at
Our Lady of Arabia Parish, Ahmadi.
On 18 November 2022, Fr. Roswin was installed as Parish Priest of Our Lady of Arabia Parish by H.E. Bishop Paul Hinder OFM Cap.
Fr. Roswin celebrates Mass in 2 languages: English and Konkani.
