Fr. Sebastian Purayidathil was born at Paika in Kottayam Dt. of Kerala, India. He is the second child in the family of the five children.
After having finished his pre-degree studies in 1986, he joined the Capuchin Order.
He had his initial formation in Bharananganam, Kattappana and in Moovattupuzha. He did his philosophical and theological studies in Thrisur and Kottayam.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
1992-1994: B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) from Kerala Varma College in Trichur.
2001-2002: B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) from St. Berchmans College, Nedumkunnam.
2004-2006: Procured Licenciate in Spiritual Theology from Anthonianum University, Rome.
2015–2016: Post Graduation in “Psychotherapy and Counselling” from Madurai Kamaraj University.
PRIESTLY MINISTRY:
1997: Appointed Assistant Parish Priest of St. Thomas Church, Malayatoor, Ernakulam Diocese.
1998-2000: Appointed as the Vicar of Syro Malankara Churches at Pallimon and Puliyila of Mavelikkara Dioceses.
2001-2003: Appointed as the Vice Principal of St. Jude Higher Secondary School of Mukahathala in Kollam Dt.
2003-2004: Appointed as the Vice Rector of Seraphic Minor Seminary at Bharananganam.
2007-2009: Appointed as the Vice Principal and the Vicar of St. Mary’s Curch Nallila in Mavelikkara Diocese.
2010-2012: Appointed as the Vice Master of the Pre-Novitiate students at Kattappana.
2013-2015: Appointed as the Superior of the Amala Ashram, Thoprankudy.
He also rendered pastoral assistance in the United States, UAE and in Oman for few a months.
Fr. Sebastian joined the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia on 7th February 2018 and has been assigned to the Holy Family (Cathedral) Parish, Kuwait City. He is currently serving in the Ahmadi Parish since November 2019.
